Williams came to Fiddler On The Roof after working on two other major adaptation scores, Valley of the Dolls (1967, with songs written by Andre and Dory Previn), and Goodbye, Mr. The project came at a very particular time in John Williams’ career, during which the composer was in the middle of a turning point that, a few years later, would led him into real stardom.
